Wood, MDF or PVC: which to choose

Solid wood

Cumaru, tauari or teak from legal sources. The texture and smell of real wood. In teak or cumaru, it also goes on facades and uncovered areas. Solid wood slatted panel.

MDF

Wood fiber with a finish that reproduces the grain and color of wood, in many colors. For indoor spaces and covered outdoor areas, with a shorter production time. MDF slatted panel.

PVC

It's plastic and handles moisture better. Barreto does not make PVC panels: it works with wood and MDF.

How to install a slatted panel

On the wall, with no construction work: in the interlocking system, the slats go onto the spacers and the panel is fixed with double-sided tape and glue; with StickTech, you peel off the liner, place it and press. On the ceiling, the ceiling is modular and Barreto has its own installation team.

Are slatted panels still in style?

Yes. Slatted paneling stopped being a passing trend and became a design finish: it appears in living rooms, bedrooms, TV panels, stores, restaurants and ceilings. What changed was the variety: today there are rounded, curved and smooth slats, with light and in solid wood.

Frequently asked questions about slatted panels

What is a slatted panel?

It is a cladding made of parallel slats, with a small shadow between them, that brings rhythm, depth and warmth to walls and ceilings. It can be made of MDF with a wood-look finish or of solid wood.

Does a slatted panel need construction work?

No. The Slatted Panels line comes with interlocking slats and spacers and goes on the wall with double-sided tape and glue. StickTech comes already assembled, with adhesive film on the back: just peel and stick.

How much does a square meter of slatted panel cost?

It depends on the material (MDF or solid wood), the model and slat width, the system (interlocking or self-adhesive), the color, the area and shipping to your city. The calculator on the site works it out for your wall, and the quote comes with the lead time.

Can a slatted panel go on the ceiling?

Yes. Barreto has slatted ceilings made for ceilings, in MDF and solid wood, with ceiling trim for the finish and its own installation team.

Can a slatted panel go outdoors?

In covered outdoor areas, yes. In uncovered areas and facades, only in solid teak or cumaru wood.

What is the lead time?

In MDF, 15 to 20 business days of production; in solid wood, 45 to 60 business days. Then comes transport to your city, which appears in the quote.
